In Staffordshire, we are so fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful countryside and hidden gems. It’s a great place to get out on the road and explore new places, so we have put together our favourite destinations for you to look over. So, if you are seeking some weekend inspiration or are new to our wonderful area, read on…
From the wining roads that get you there to the beauty that greets you, it may be on the outskirts of the county but it is one of our favorite beauty spots nonetheless. Wander down the picturesque streets and of course, visit the cathedral. Look out for farmers markets and festivals throughout the town as these are a great way to whittle the day away.
Just a jaunt down the M6 or take the more scenic route of the A34, Stafford is a beautiful town with a lot of history. Home to Stafford Gatehouse Theatre, the Shugborough Estate and The Ancient High House, whether you fancy a spot of retail therapy or to get some good fresh air, you will find it all in the town.
Take a trip to Tamworth for the majestic castle alone. There’s plenty to see and do here, plus you won’t be let down by the number of quaint shops to visit. It’s Stafforshire’s second largest town and dates back to Anglo-Saxon times, so there’s something for the historians amongst you too.
Right on the corner of our county and edging into the glorious Peak District, lies the Staffordshire Moorlands. You’ll find the town of Leek here along with beautiful scenery, towns to explore and plenty of hidden gems. This is somewhere we love to spend our weekends.
These are just a handful of our favourite places to visit in Staffordshire. We could write for hours about the wonderful places we are surrounded by, but we have kept it brief for now!
