Getting your car ready for Winter

The nights are getting longer and the mornings are getting colder. What better time to give your car the once over? During this time of year, your car can be vulnerable to breakdowns and damage so check out our tips below on how to get your car ready for winter!

Check your tyres

Making sure your tyres are in good condition is a key part of getting ready for those Wintery roads. Check the pressure is correct, inflate them if necessary and take the opportunity to check for bulges, splits and tears.

Book it in for some TLC

You should keep on top of regular servicing anyway but what better time to get it booked in. a full service will look at all the key parts of your car and give you peace of mind that it is in good working order to see you through the cold spell.

Winter Breakdown kit

Having a breakdown kit on board your car can be a massive help. Things to include in this are; a shovel, torch, blanket, hi-vis jacket, screen wash, food and water, scraper, de-icer and suitable shoes in case you have to walk! It might be worth packing a few extra layers too if you haven’t already got them on.

Lights, lights, lights

Clean your car lights so they are free from debris. Then you can check all your bulbs and make sure that all your lights are in full working order. With less daylight hours, you will be using them a lot more than you would in the Summer.
